Hi, I'm Amanda.

I'm the founder, formulator, photographer, label designer, packer, shipping department, and customer service representative behind Persephone's Purse. Every product you see here has passed through my hands, and honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way.

I've always loved gardening. Which probably sounds strange because I'm terrified of bugs. Still, there was something satisfying about planting something, taking care of it, and watching it grow.

Eventually my interest shifted from vegetables to herbs.

Growing up, we always had an aloe plant around the house. It seemed to be the answer for everything, and that stuck with me. I became curious about what other plants could do, so I started researching herbs like calendula, echinacea, and ashwagandha. At first I grew them for teas, but eventually I found myself wondering:

What if they could do more?

What if I could incorporate them into skincare?

So I started researching.

I wanted to make products that were honest but also effective. I wasn't interested in chasing trends or making something because it was popular. I wanted to understand why ingredients worked and create products that people would actually enjoy using.

I also wanted to create something for people who looked like me. Something comparable to the brands you'd find in stores, but formulated in the spare room of my house.

I didn't get everything right the first time.

I'd make a formula, ask people to try it, listen to their feedback, go back to my notebook, make changes, and try again. That's still how I work today.

I'm still learning, and honestly, I hope I always am.

Once I finally had a formula I felt good about, I needed a name.

By day, I'm a high school English teacher, so mythology has always been one of my favorite things to teach. Persephone, the goddess of spring and growth, felt like the perfect fit for a brand rooted in plants and renewal.

Then there was the word Purse.

Growing up, there was always that one woman whose purse had everything you could possibly need. Aspirin. A tissue. A safety pin. A mint. Whatever the situation, she somehow had it.

I wanted Persephone's Purse to feel like that—a place where you could find thoughtfully made skincare for every part of your routine.

Today, every formula still begins at my workbench. Every batch is researched, formulated, poured, labeled, and packaged by me.

Persephone's Purse is still growing.

So am I.
